Yolanda Galvan

Yolanda Rodriguez Galvan, born on January 12,1954, to Manuel and Daria Rodriguez; left this world on December 1, 2025, at the age of 71. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Yolanda was a lifelong resident of Mathis and dedicated her life to her God, her family and community.

Yolanda's career started in the 1970’s where she worked for Mathis Market for two years, the City of Mathis for a decade, and then dedicated her career of 43 years and continued employment till her death, at Mathis Independent School District as the Tax Collector.

She graduated with her GED in 1973 from Mathis High School and later obtained her certification as a tax collector. Yolanda’s greatest accomplishments were not bound by her professional life but rather by her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is widely known by others for her faith, love for God and family, and her involvement and dedication to the church and her family.

Yolanda was courageous, resilient, compassionate, generous, kind and loving. She loved whole heartedly and stood for what she believed. Many may remember her say the following: “God always provides,” “God always has a plan, just have faith,”and “God will never give you more than you can handle, as long as you have him with you.” This she lived by and instilled in her children and grandchildren.

Yolanda loved and lived for her grandchildren. She would attend every activity, no matter how short notice or how far the drive, she was always there. She was very present in both her children and grandchildren’s lives. Yolanda was always ready to lend an ear and give words of encouragement. She loved going on family vacations, shopping trips, and to the nail salons. Every moment spent with her was memorable, full of laughter, and love. Her love for life, her husband Frank, and family never went unnoticed; it truly was one like no other.

Beyond her devotion to family, Yolanda was a pillar of her community. She was a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years, taught religious education as a CCD Teacher and director for quinceañera. Through her contributions, she touched many lives, embodying the essence of faith and love.

Surviving Yolanda is her devoted and loving Husband of 56 years, Francisco Galvan Sr., and their children: Joanna G. (George) Flores, Bernadette G. Rivera (Gabriel Olivarez), and Francisco R. Galvan Jr. Her legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren-Laura Flores, Marisol Flores, Marizabel Rivera, Lorena Rivera, Isabella Galvan, Evelyn Galvan, and Francisco Galvan III. Yolanda is also survived by her loving sisters, Annie (David) Aguilar and Aurora (Julian) Gonzales, along with her brothers, Manuel Rodriguez, Martin (Yolanda) Rodriguez, and Javier Rodriguez.

She joins in eternal rest with her father, Manuel Rodriguez and her brothers, Rene Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez, as well as her niece, Udele Rodriguez and her nephew, Martin Rodriguez Jr.

Yolanda's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the community of Mathis for the overwhelming support during this difficult time, along with family and friends whose love and compassion will forever be cherished.

Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the unconditional love she imparted to everyone she encountered. Yolanda Rodriguez Galvan will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and faith will continue to guide those she left behind.
