Obituary

Wesley "Wes" E. Johanson was born on February 19, 1953, in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Betty Griffin Johanson and Clarence "Gene" Johanson. He passed away on June 22, 2026, in Aransas Pass, Texas. His passing marks the close of a life characterized by kindness, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others.

From an early age, Wes’s life was shaped by strong values and faith. In 1965, at only 12 years old, Wes was baptized and saved at First Baptist Church in Sour Lake, Texas.

Wes attended Gregory-Portland High School, graduating with the class of 1971. Ambitious and industrious, he embarked on a career as a self-employed contractor and project manager. Wes's professional pursuits took him far from home, bringing him to places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mexico. Through his travels and work, he formed meaningful connections and left enduring impressions on those he met.

For the last ten years, Wes dedicated his time to becoming a full time caregiver to his cherished mother, Betty. Together, they created lasting memories through their unbreakable family bond.

Those who knew Wes remember him as a man of extraordinary generosity and kindness. He had a big heart and was always willing to help others. His overall kindness and readiness to lend a hand were qualities that endeared him to many throughout his life.

Wes is reunited with his father, Clarence "Gene" Johanson. He leaves his memories to his beloved mother, Betty Johanson; sister, Lanelle Garcia; brother-in-law, Cesar Garcia; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and one great nephew.

Interment will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.

A loving son, brother, uncle, dedicated worker, and a man of faith, Wesley E. Johanson’s memory will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness and service remains an inspiration and a comforting reminder of a life lived with love and purpose.
