Victoria Lopez Acosta, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on June 2, 1949, in Taft, Texas, Victoria’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and warmth that touched everyone who knew her.
For many years, Victoria was a devoted housewife, nurturing her family with unwavering care and love. Later, she embarked on a new chapter of her life, dedicating ten years to Imperial Mills. She later embraced her golden years with joy, savoring every moment spent with her family, who were the very center of her world.
Victoria was treasured for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and an open heart that welcomed every new family member as if they were her own. Her hospitality was legendary; her kitchen was a sanctuary where traditions were lovingly preserved and passed down. She was known far and wide for her exceptional culinary talents, especially her tamales and menudo—recipes carefully perfected from the cherished hands of her mother and mother-in-law. These meals were more than food; they were expressions of love, culture, and family unity.
Her greatest joy lay in loving and spoiling her grandchildren—Michael Rudy Rios, John Robert Acosta, Juan Adrian Leal, Verissa Michelle Rios, and Mireya Victoria Acosta—who were the shining lights of her later years. Victoria’s warmth and generosity extended far beyond the kitchen and family gatherings, leaving an indelible mark on all whose lives she touched.
Victoria shared her life with her beloved husband, Antonio C. Acosta. Together, they built a life filled with love, support, and countless memories. She is survived by her loving daughters, Verlinda Acosta Rios, Clarisa J. Acosta, and Monica L. Acosta; brothers Alberto Lopez (Valeria), Julian Lopez (Gracie), Ruben Lopez (Carmen), and Vicente Lopez; sisters Angelita Lopez Sifuentes, Esther Smith, Patricia Soliz (Jesus), Petra Rodriguez (Orlando), Mary Trevino (Andres Vasquez).
Her family also mourns the passing of her son Juan Lopez Acosta; her parents Pedro and Lydia Lopez; brothers Manuel Lopez, Felipe Lopez; and her sister Gloria Lopez Tagle, whose memories remain close to their hearts.
A visitation to honor Victoria will be held at Winsteads' Funeral Home, located at 500 Wildcat Drive, Portland, Texas, on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. The following day, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 a mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft, Texas, followed by a graveside service at Gregory Cemetery in Gregory, Texas, at 11:00 a.m.
Victoria Lopez Acosta’s legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever echo within the hearts of her family and friends. She was a beacon of light, and though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a heritage of warmth, tradition, and unconditional love that will endure through generations. Rest in peace, dear Victoria, your loving soul will forever be cherished.
