Vance Dawson III

Life-long Portland, Texas resident Vance Dawson III passed away Thursday October 12^th, 2017 at his home.

Vance Dawson III was born on April 16^th, 1953 in Alvin, Texas to Jean Ivey Dawson & Vance Dawson Jr.  They moved to Portland when Vance was just a few days old.

He was known by many as a stern and unfiltered man yet a compassionate and giving man. Mr. Dawson was full of stories and life lessons.  You could always find him at the local diner early in the mornings having his coffee with family and friends…or at anytime during the day, really.

He spent his “free time” running his company and spending time with family and friends. Whether it was gambling trips, car rides to nowhere, or going to the deer lease in the winter, he always found time to put a smile on someone’s face.

Mr. Dawson is survived by his father, Vance Dawson Jr; Son and spouse, Vance Dawson IV and Nina; Grandkids, Amber Dawson, Vance “Bubba” Dawson V, Hunter Dawson, and Justin Ruiz; Great Grandchild, Vance “Beau” Dawson VI.

He would want nothing more than to have everyone he loved and cherished to show up and share the happiest moments you had of him. In honor of Mr. Dawson, the family will be setting up a “Good Deed” scholarship in his name.

The Viewing will be held Sunday, October 15^th at Limbaugh Funeral Home from 3 – 7 p.m.

The Funeral will be held Monday, October 16^th at the First Baptist Church located at 1305 Wildcat at 10:00 a.m. in Portland, Texas.  Burial to follow to Palms Memorial Gardens.
