Tommi married the love of her life, Victor Garcia Barajas, on December 11, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas. Their union was a pillar of strength and love, cherished deeply by all who knew them. Although Victor has since passed, their shared memories and the family they built together continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind.
Known for her kindness and nurturing spirit, Tommi dedicated her life to her family. She was a compassionate mother who offered invaluable advice and guidance to her children, whose lives she touched with her wisdom and care. Tommi’s love extended beyond her children to her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy and each of whom she met with a heart full of tenderness and love.
Tommi's faith was strong and unwavering; she prayed beautiful prayers and held a deep belief in God, which fortified her through life’s joys and challenges. She was also a gifted storyteller, fondly recalling the days when she danced in her youth, captivating her family with the rhythms of her past. She had a passion for sewing clothes for her children during their younger years, weaving love into every stitch. Her children recall how special Tommi made their childhood Christmas holidays, with them waking up on Christmas morning to full stockings lined up at the end of their beds. Many remember her for the homemade tortillas she crafted from the heart, cooking without measurements, guided only by intuition and affection. An avid gardener, she was devoted to tending her flowers and plants, finding peace and joy in nurturing life in every form. In moments of relaxation, she enjoyed watching her favorite Mexican Novelas, a cherished pastime that connected her to culture and entertaining stories.
Tommi is reunited with her beloved husband, Victor Garcia Barajas Sr.; parents, Camilo Gonzales and Cecilia Martinez Gonzales; and her siblings, Manuel Gonzales, Agapito Gonzales, Camilo Gonzales, Santiago Gonzales, Lucia Olivarez, and Virginia Zamora.
