T.W. (Dub) Chachere, 88, of Portland, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2018 in Portland.
Dub was born in Beaumont, Texas to Theo and Jesse Chachere on November 23, 1929. Dub
graduated from Miller High School in Corpus Christi. He joined the Marine Corp and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Eva Evans in on July 3, 1952 upon his return from Korea, and went on to earn a degree in Education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University) in San Marcos. Dub was a respected coach and teacher at Driscoll Junior High School in Corpus Christi for over 30 years before his retirement in 1990.
An outgoing, fun, and committed family man with friends scattered all over the country, he enjoyed traveling along with his wife Eva to see friends and family, eventually touching nearly every state in the Union, but most of all he was Daddy, Poppa, Poppa Dub, Pops, Uncle Dub and more, who loved well and was well loved.
Dub is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eva; his son and daughter-in-law Eddie and Gaye Chachere of Portland; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Glenn Chalker of Tulsa, OK, 9 grandchildren and a whole gaggle great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church located at 4545 Wildcat Dr, Portland, TX 78374.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday April 25 at Limbaugh Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday April 26 at Limbaugh Funeral Home.
