Obituary

Stephen Penalber Rodriguez, a devoted family man and patriot, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on August 8, 1937, in Delano, California, Stephen lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a love for the simple pleasures that brought him joy.

Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 honorable years before retiring. Following his military career, he embraced entrepreneurship, becoming self-employed in retail from 1979 until 2000. His work ethic and determination were hallmarks of his character and garnered respect from all who knew him.

Stephen was a man who cherished the outdoors, often sitting quietly to enjoy nature’s beauty. Stephen had a fondness for sharing stories about "the good old days," reminiscing about his adventures around the world. Music was a significant part of his life as well, with a diverse appreciation that spanned Tejano, Gospel, and R&B genres. He also loved his dog dearly, reflecting his gentle and caring nature.

Stephen is reunited with Sixto Rodriguez and Margarita Penalber Rodriguez; his first wife, Dolores Rodriguez; second wife, Betty Rodriguez; third wife, Lucy Rodriguez; daughter, Terry Rodriguez; siblings, Marvin Rodriguez, Teddy Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, and Gloria Rodriguez; and one grandson, Seth Henderson. He leaves his memories to his children, Margie (Jerry) De Federiecis, Linda Darlene (Boyd) Lee, Stephen (Edith) Rodriguez, and Robbie (Chris) Shwein. His legacy continues through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who carry forward his spirit and memories.

Visitation will be held from 6 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM.
