Shawn Dee Sullinger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Sandia, Texas, at the age of 54. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 10, 1971, Shawn's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many around her.
Shawn dedicated her life to her family, cherishing every moment spent with them, especially her seven cherished grandchildren. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did. She embraced every gathering, every laugh shared, and created an atmosphere where love thrived. Her husband of 37 years, Jerry Sullinger, was her steadfast companion, and together they built a life filled with joy and resilience.
An inspiring spokesperson for Scleroderma, Shawn bravely shared her own battle with the condition, providing hope and encouragement to others facing similar challenges. Through her advocacy, she not only raised awareness but also created a community rooted in solidarity and strength. Her courage and positivity shone brightly, even during tough times.
Shawn had a passion for music, dancing, and the thrill of watching scary movies, always ready for an adventure, whether it was on the dance floor or cuddled up on the couch. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, she could often be found cheering for her team with spirited enthusiasm, surrounded by family and friends who knew her love for the game.
Shawn leaves her memories to her beloved husband of 37 years, Jerry Sullinger; children Cassandra (James) McGee-Barbosa and Stephen (Chelsea) Sullinger; seven grandchildren; parents, Pleas and Melanie McGee; siblings, Cora Autry, Grace Couch, Jeanna Alaniz, and Pam Hannaman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her loved ones will carry her spirit with them, grateful for the countless memories they were able to share.
The family would like to express special gratitude to Megan and the team at Harbor Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Shawn's final days.
In her passing, Shawn leaves behind a legacy of love, hope, and perseverance. She touched the lives of many and will be missed eternally by all who knew her. Her spirited laughter, gentle heart, and unwavering determination will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
