Sarah Elizabeth Curtiss

Sarah Elizabeth Curtiss, 88, of Mathis, died July 18, 2020.

Sarah was born November 24, 1931, in Taylor, Texas and spent her childhood in Taylor and Odem. She attended Odem schools, where she met Bennie Curtiss. Sarah and Bennie were married January 12, 1951. Together, they founded the Curtiss Grain company of Mathis in 1990 and celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death in 2009.

Survivors include her two sons, Cub Curtiss (Carol) of San Marcos, Texas; David Curtiss (Karen) of Sandia, Texas; four grandchildren, Ann E. Flink (Joey) of San Marcos, Matthew Curtiss of San Antonio, Katherine Jo Curtiss of San Marcos, and Kelly Curtiss of Corpus Christi; three great grandchildren Owen Flink, Archer Flink, and Renate Flink of San Marcos; her sister Billie Jo Tennill of Odem; her sister-in-law Jean Curtiss of Odem.

Viewing will be at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis on Monday, July 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dobie Funeral Chapel, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Odem. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church in Mathis.
