On March 11, 1946, Sandra Pearl Hunter Anderson was born to Alice Hunter Walker and Frank Hodge.
Sandra, who was affectionally known as Sandy Pearl was the oldest of her three siblings and the oldest niece (the "MATRIARCH") to the Hunter bloodline. She was a long-time devoted member of St Paul A. M. E. Church until she became ill in 2017.
On November 13, 1962, she wed Herman Anderson Sr. They were blessed with six children, two sons Billy Hill, Jr., Herman Jr. and four daughters, Audrey, Stephanie, Sheila, and Sophia. She was preceded in death by her parents, three children Billy Hill, Jr., Audrey and Stephanie, and siblings Cdell Hodge and Chester Caraway.
Sandy Pearl went to school at Douglas until 1961. She received her GED and began working in the hospital shortly thereafter. She worked as a Nurse's aide at the hospital in Alvin, Texas and in Houston, Texas and then at Kleberg Memorial Hospital in Kingsville for several years. In the mid 1970's, she began working as a Physical Therapy assistant. She worked in that profession for over a decade at the same hospital which we now know as Spohn Kleberg. In 1990 she went to school and received her Medical Assistant diploma. She worked at the Kingsville clinic for a short time and after that she worked private duty until 2013.
Those of you who knew Sandy Pearl knew she was a firecracker. She had a personality full of spunk and she loved to dance. On Sunday morning it soon became apparent who that last dance was for. She was surrounded by her husband, daughters, and a family friend as she took her last breath.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60 years Herman Sr., son Herman Jr., daughters Sheila and Sophia.
