He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettie Jean Boates, his four children Russell Boates III of Houston, Sandra Clarkson of Portland, Tim Boates of Gurley, AL, and Scott Boates of Houston, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family will celebrate the life of Mr. Boates in a private memorial ceremony, and they have asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Veterans organizations in the Coastal Bend.
