Rufino G. Figueroa

Rufino G. Figueroa was born on August 4, 1934 in Goliad, Texas to Librado and Elena(Garces) Figueroa. Rufino grew up in Goliad and moved to Mathis in 1945. In 1953 he met the love of his life Felipa Zapata and married her on June 23, 1954. They were married for 60 years and had five children Diana (Roy) Montemayor, Rosa (Loy) Castaneda, Oralia (Sabino) Hernandez, Sandra Figueroa, and Rene Figueroa. Rufino was a heavy equipment operator for 50 plus years. He enjoyed watching wrestling, western movies, and spending time with his family.

Rufino passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Mathis, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Felipa Z. Figueroa, his only son Rene Figueroa, and three of his brothers Rodolfo Figueroa, Ricardo Figueroa, and Manuel Ramirez.

He is survived by all his 4 daughters; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers: Adrian Ramirez, Roger Hernandez, Rolando Hernandez, Rufino Figueroa Castaneda, Edward Montemayor, and Bradley Castaneda.

Honorary Pallbearer: Erick Figueroa.

Visitation will start at 12 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 followed by interment to Descanso Eterno II.
