Ruben Nuñez, a devoted family man and skilled mechanic, passed away on April 2, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on September 21, 1937, in Berclair, Texas, Ruben dedicated more than 30 years of his life to working as a mechanic for Ford in Alice, Texas, where his expertise and work ethic were admired by many.
Ruben was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where his commitment and presence were cherished by his community. Outside of his professional and spiritual life, he found great joy in spending time with his family, especially relishing weekends when all could gather together. He also enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at various restaurants, which added a sense of lightheartedness and camaraderie to his life.
Ruben is reunited with his beloved wife of over 50 years, Adela H. Nuñez; parents, Santiago Nuñez and Odelia Medina Nuñez; and brothers, Eugene Nuñez, Santiago Nuñez, and Thomas Nuñez. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Sonya (Harold) Nuñez-Gomez, Ruben (Rachel) Nuñez Jr., and Nestor (Wynnetka M. Pipkins) Nuñez. Ruben’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Michael, Marissa, and Matthew, who held him in great affection. He is also survived by his sisters, Seferina Nuñez and Lydia (Rafael) Hernandez.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Christus Spohn Hospital - Shoreline, Post Acute Medical Health Rehabilitation Hospital, and Windsor Calallen for their dedicated care and support.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 9 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno Cemetery II.
Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Michael Nuñez, Harold Gomez, Nestor Nuñez, Jose Villegas, Joey Villegas, and Richard Guerra.
Ruben Nuñez's enduring spirit, dedication to family, and vibrant presence in his community will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
