Rosalie Roy

Portland – Rosalie Eleanor Roy, age 84, passed away suddenly on January 18, 2024.  Rosalie was born on July 31, 1939, in Corpus Christi, TX.  Rosalie, a Catholic, was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. 

Rosalie married the love of her life, Maurice “Jerry” Roy and was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.  Rosalie was known for her incredibly sweet smile, her love of dancing, her extreme pride in her two daughters, and the home she built together with her husband Jerry on the Back Bay.  Additionally, after Jerry’s death in 2000, Rosalie experienced a significant shift in her approach to life. Initially known for her gentle and quiet nature, she later demonstrated a quiet strength and determination that caught those close to her by surprise. Her evolution served as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Rosalie never met a stranger. 

Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, as well as parents William "Bill" and Elsie Wendland, brother, Charles "David" Wendland, sister, Martha Ann Owen, and brother William “Bill” Wendland. 

Rosalie is survived by her brother Richard Wendland (Mary Helen), sisters-in-law,  Marlou Wendland and Barbara Wendland, two daughters, Cindy Roy Perry (Andrew) and Wendy Roy Hanks, her three grandchildren, Colin Holt Hanks, John Andrew Perry, and Nathan Roy Perry, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 22nd, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 9AM, Rosary at 10AM, and funeral mass to follow. Due to the weather, the burial will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
