Robert "Bob" Kitchen

Robert Brady Kitchen, 75, of Portland, Texas, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on October 16, 2023.

Robert was born on October 14, 1948, son of George and Kathlyn Kitchen. Robert (Bob) is survived by his wife Cristy of 47 years, sons Russel and Peter, daughter in law Ashley and grandchildren, Isaiah, Karlee, Kaitlyn and Kelcee. He is survived by his brother Doug Kitchen and wife Christy, their children, Josh, Naomi, Sarah and Rachel and their families. His in laws, Steve and Anna Dryer, Randy and Laura Dryer, Patrick and Lori Day and their children and grandchildren. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend. He loved and enjoyed being with all of his family.

Bob loved to be with his family. He loved to have fun with everyone. He worked hard as a furniture builder, and professional engineer during his life. He always said he would quit working when he is dead and he did just that. He worked hard at his engineering career always putting his clients first. He also said “First you work hard, then you can have fun.” He was great at working with his hands. He built many houses and buildings. He also helped build many of his friends and families houses and building projects. He took time to teach his family the skills he has learned during his life. He had lots of fun taking his family on building projects, ski trips, camping trips, beach trips, and trips to go have fun with his distant family in Arkansas and Missouri. Most of all Bob loved Jesus. He told his family to put the Lord first in all situations. He wanted his family to know and follow Christ not only to have comfort and direction here on earth, but to be together with him in heaven with Jesus.

A celebration of life is planned for early next summer at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. His family would like to honor him with a fun get together, with smoked meats and whatever sides y’all bring!

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at WInsteads’ Funeral Home. (361) 643-6564 www.winsteadsfuneralhome.com
