Robbie Howell Love, a long-time resident of Portland passed away on the 3rd of January in her home in Chanhassen, MN. Robbie was born in Van Buren, AR in 1924. Her family moved to south Texas in the 1930’s, where she met her husband Ward. Robbie and Ward made their home in Portland, where they raised their two children, Patrick and Shelbi.
Robbie’s more than 40-year career in Defense Reutilization and Marketing at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi was deeply satisfying. She served 100s of schools and law enforcement agencies across the country by helping to provide them with essential equipment and supplies no longer needed by the Department of Defense.
Robbie enjoyed cooking for the family and was an amazing cook. She loved to spend time with her family and friends catching up on lost time and reminiscing about the past. She was funny, kind and cared deeply for others.
Robbie was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Claude and Mable Howell, her husband Ward Love, her aunt and uncle Bessy and Bill Leonard, her cousin Phyllis Collis and her niece Cindy Howell.
She is survived by her Son, Patrick Love, daughter and son-in-law, Shelbi and Laurence Rombout, step Grandchildren, Michael Rombout, Marina Rombout, Steffen Hefley and her husband Randy and their boys Liam and Landon, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lorene Howell, Nephews and Nieces, Craig Howell and his daughters Krista and Kara, Keith and Kathy Howell and their daughters Kelsey and Krystal, Lynda and George Vilfordi and their children George, Taylor and Hayden along with many lifelong friends and her canine companions Nemo and Dory.
A memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, January 8, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Portland, Texas. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens in Victoria, Texas
