Obituary

Richard "Dick" Eugene Myers passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2026, attended by his loving wife, Glenda Witman-Myers.

Dick was born in French Camp, Mississippi, on February 5, 1944, to Dora Louise Rabun and Elmer Elton Myers. He was raised in Monte Vista, Mississippi, by Jake and Louise Williams.

In 1961, at 17 years old and after graduating from Eupora High School, Dick enlisted in the United States Army. He faithfully served his country for over 29 years in Enlisted and Commissioned Status, from Recruit through Staff Sergeant (Promotable) to Colonel. He served in command and staff positions in the fields of Administration, Personal Management, Intelligence & Security, Counter Intelligence, and Electronic Warfare.

Dick was awarded multiple Military Decorations and Service Awards including: the Legion of Merit (2), Bronze Star Medal (2), Air Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, et al.

After retiring from the Army, Dick served for 13 years as the Executive Director and President of the Coastal Bend Business Roundtable, from 1990 until 2004. In 1997, he became licensed as a Real Estate Salesperson, but it wasn't until 2004, that he dove into Real Estate full time.

Dick and his cherished wife Glenda ran WITMYER Coastal Bend Properties in Portland, Texas, until 2023. Dick remained active with the VFW and Rotary Club until his passing.

Dick is survived by his wife, Glenda; brother, Robert Howard; six children; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Dick's memory to the local VFW or other Veteran Service Organization.

Memorial Service, Inurnment and Final Military Honors will be announced at a later date and held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
