Rene Gonzales Sr.

Rene Gonzales Sr., affectionately known as "La Rata" or "Big Daddy," was born on September 8, 1975, in the small town of Taft, Texas. He left this world on January 3, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering support for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Throughout his life, Rene dedicated himself to a remarkable career as a supervisor that spanned over 30 years within the oil and gas industry. His commitment to excellence and leadership served as an inspiration to those around him, but it was his devotion to family that truly defined his character. Rene cherished his role as a father and grandfather, demonstrating boundless love for all of his children and grandchildren. He took immense pride in watching them grow and thrive, always encouraging their dreams and being their biggest supporter.

Rene's warm and inviting personality extended to all aspects of his life. He was a loving fiancé to Noelia, sharing countless moments filled with laughter and joy. His siblings, Israel and Sonya, also stand as a testament to the love that flourished within their family. The ties of kinship were strong, enveloping numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in a comforting embrace that Rene extended to everyone he met.

A passionate fan of football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Rene spent many days cheering on his favorite team. His love for the outdoors was equally matched by his enthusiasm for fishing and barbequing—delighting friends and family with his culinary prowess and proving himself to be a remarkable cook who could create something incredible out of nothing. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter, delicious food, and the unmistakable presence of a man who always lent a hand to anyone in need.

Rene found solace and strength in his faith, attending the Church of Hope, where he forged meaningful connections and nurtured his spiritual journey. His spirit will be remembered fondly in the hearts of all who had the honor of experiencing his kindness and generosity.

Rene is reunited with his parents, Eligio D. and Maria Isabel Gonzales, as well as his grandparents. He leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Noelia Rosales; children, Rene "RJ" (Destiny) Gonzales Jr., Darien (Cassie) Reyna, Mateo Gonzales, and Analyssa (John David) Lopez; five grandchildren; siblings, Israel (Desiree) Gonzales and Sonya (Reinaldo) Paiz Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
