Porfirio "Pete" Rodriguez, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on February 28, 2026. Born and raised in Kingsville, Texas on July 2, 1945, he remained a native to his beloved community and close-knit family.
Pete's lovable presence & beautiful smile brought joy and laughter to all those who met and knew him.
He was a beloved and devoted husband to his late wife, Dorothy Sue Rodriguez, for 37 years. Along with being a loving father to his children, he worked hard to provide for them as a longtime employee doing custodial services for KISD and Kingsville Animal Control.
Throughout his lifetime, Porfirio always enjoyed fishing, listening to oldies music such as Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, especially Elvis Presley, and also Kingsville's very own The Conjunto Bernal.
Pete also had an overwhelming love for watching televised wrestling for entertainment which spanned his entire life.
Before he was called home to be with our Heavenly Father, Pete made the best decision of his life, as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. "For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
Porfirio is survived by his loving children: Ronald (Mary Ann) Alfaro, Rosalee (Benjamin Jr.) Bass, and Porfirio Rodriguez Jr. His siblings: Lee Rodriguez and Dora Rodriguez. He was a proud grandfather to Rodney Rene Garza Jr., Aaron Alfaro, Robby Lee Garza, Debra Alfaro, Caleb Maxwell, Jaydon Ray Rodriguez, and Janiece Sue Rodriguez. He is a treasured great-grandfather to Jayden Cortez, Jeremiah Cortez, and (newborn to come) Romy Lenee Garza.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Felicita Rodriguez, his wife, Dorothy Sue Rodriguez, his brothers, Francisco and Domingo Rodriguez, his sisters, Amalia Salinas, Dominga Garcia, Oralia, Silva, and Yolanda Rodriguez.
No funeral or visitation service will be held. We thank everyone for your understanding, outpouring of love, prayers, and support.
Porfirio "Pete" Rodriguez will forever be missed and our beautiful memories of you will live in our hearts forever. It's not good-bye, Pete, but see you later ❤.
