Phyliss Krusell

Phyllis Priskorn Krusell, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2018. She was born on April 25, 1926 to Thomas and Florence Priskorn in Wyandotte, Michigan. She attended Wyandotte High School where she studied business and loved to sing in the choir. After graduating she worked as a bookkeeper at a chemical company. In 1948, she married Richard C. Krusell in Trenton, Michigan, and gave birth to three loving daughters. She devoted her life to her family and was involved in their activities. In 1975, she and her youngest daughter moved to Portland, TX. There she became the manager of the Pediatric Center in Corpus Christi for eight years, then continued bookkeeping for several doctors until she was 78 years old. The most important thing in her life was God. She became a member of several churches including the First Presbyterian Church of Portland and finally the First Christian Church of Portland. She made wonderful friends, sang in the choirs, and volunteered for a variety of jobs at the church. Phyllis also stayed busy in her retirement by continuing her mission of making prayer quilts with friends from church and donating them to anyone who needed comfort and prayers, especially Driscoll Children's Hospital and Mission 911. She was a Dallas Cowboy and Blue Angels fan, a patriot, workaholic, reader, dog-lover, best friend, and a wonderful mother. Phyllis lived her life with honor, integrity, generosity, honesty, humor and love. We miss you terribly, but we take comfort in knowing that you are with God and finally have peace and comfort. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Janice, and two brothers Neal and Kenneth. She is survived by her daughters Diane McCornack (John) and Becky Hutchison (Gary) and five nieces and nephews. We would like to thank New Century Hospice, especially Tammy, Deacon Larry, Melissa, and Lidia, for their care and support of Phyllis. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 1103 Lang Road, Portland, TX 78374. 361-643-2864
