Pedro Tamez Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever touch the hearts of those who knew him. Born on November 28, 1952, in Mathis, Texas, Pedro lived a rich life filled with laughter, music, and a deep commitment to his family and his faith.
A devoted parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Mission Church in Tynan, Texas, and a lector at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas, Pedro found solace and strength in his Catholic community. His faith guided him through life's challenges and shaped the generous spirit that endeared him to all. Pedro was not only a belief-driven man but also a hands-on individual who found great joy and fulfillment in simple, everyday activities. He loved to spend time in the yard, whether it was nurturing his beloved garden or simply soaking in the fresh air. The soothing sounds of nature paired perfectly with his passion for music, as he delighted in singing and listening to the melodies that filled his soul.
Pedro was also known for his practical skills, especially when it came to repairing lawn mowers, a testament to his hardworking nature and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He took pride in everything he did, always finding ways to bring joy and beauty to those around him.
Pedro is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, Pedro and Florencia Tamez Sr., along with his siblings, Juanita Flores, Luis Tamez, Robert Tamez, Alejandro Tamez, and Reynaldo Tamez. He leaves his legacy to his beloved wife of 16 years, Margaret "Maggie" Tamez; loving stepchildren, Cindy (Miguel) Olvera, Robert (Tessa) Lopez, Audrey (Will) Patterson, Margie (Lupe) Macias, Vanessa (Marcus) Martinez, and Joseph Cavazos; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; remaining siblings, Genoveva (Frank) Fuentes, Juan (Celia) Tamez, Ruben Tamez, and Henry (Frances) Tamez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same night at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Cenizo Hill Cemetery.
As we bid farewell to a man whose heart was as expansive as his love for his family, we are reminded of the indelible mark he left on our lives. Pedro Tamez Jr. will forever be remembered not just for the life he lived but for the love he shared, the music he sang, and the gardens he tended. His spirit will continue to thrive in the memories of all who were blessed to know him.
