Paula R. Avila, 79, passed on, Friday, June 6, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Paula was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Gregory, TX, where she enjoyed singing in the choir beside her beloved husband, Eulojio “Loy” Avila for over 40 years. Paula was employed by the Gregory-Portland ISD Transportation Department for 10 years as a dedicated school bus driver, demonstrating reliability, safety awareness, and a strong commitment to student well-being.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco & Argentina Rodriguez; siblings, Guadalupe Ramirez, Jesus de Maria Rodriguez, Maria Dora Garcia, and Janie Gomez. She is survived by her remaining siblings, Josie Reyna, Julia Rodriguez, Frank Rodriguez, Minnie Ibarra, and Jose Rodriguez.

Paula leaves behind four daughters, Bernice (Tony) Sanchez; Julia (Norberto) Rodriguez; Katherine (Terry) Smith; Amy (Sergio) Vera; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend. She was cherished for her loving spirit, her passion for plants, her deep devotion to her family, and her timeless sense of style.

A viewing will be at 2pm - 2:30pm Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Church, followed by the Rosary at 2:30pm. Mass will begin immediately after. Interment will follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
