Mary Louise Kaufhold Magee, age 87 returned to her heavenly home on November 12, 2015 after a short battle with cancer.  Mary was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, Aunt, niece, grandmother, great grandmother and sister-in-law. Mary was born in Houston, TX on September 02, 1928 to Rosa McIver Kaufhold and Joseph Kaufhold, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dewey Magee, Jr. and her brother Dr. Joseph Kaufhold, Jr.; her father-in-law Dewey Magee, Sr; her brother-in-law Walter Magee and wife Netsie.; brother-in-law Harlin Magee and wife Lolita; brother-in-law Charles H. Magee and ex sister-in-law Pat Magee, her special aunts Louise McIver; Katherine M. Openshaw. Mary graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1945.  She started her Civil Service career in August 1945, and night classes at the University of Houston of that same year, Mary was a member of Beta Chi, Chi Omega, and Beta Sigma Phi.She was raised in the Presbyterian Church and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Portland, TX.

 

She is survived by her Son, Dewey Magee III and his wife Victoria I. Magee of Portland, TX; her granddaughter Danyela Linebrink; her great granddaughter Charlize A. Linebrink; her great grandson Holden R. Linebrink all of Portland, TX; her sister-in-law Delphe Kaufhold of Houston, TX; Milton Magee (Nedra) of Beaumont, TX, Nieces Kathy Kaufhold Briggs (Larry) of Houston, TX and daughter Ashley Briggs and her daughter Makayla; Mary L. Kaufhold Bradley (Kim) Tyringham, MA and daughters Julia and Molly Bradley; Barbara L. Kaufhold Pedregon (Sam) of Pueblo, CO, and son Justin Genovese of Denver, CO; Jacquelyn Magee(Grace) of Oakland, CA; Candis White (Brian) of PA; Crystal Fuselier(David) of Sour Lake, TX, Judy Johnston (Jack, Jr) of East Palestine, OH; Vicky Magee of Dallas, TX; her nephews Joseph Randy Kaufhold(Toni) of Houston, TX; Walter Magee (Julia) Michigan; Dewey Mitchell Magee (Elisa) of Phoenix, AZ.; Carl Magee (Terri), of Adams, TN, Harlin L. Magee II (Maria) of Round Rock, TX; Marcus Dale Magee who was like a son, of Albuquerque, NM; Michael Magee(Susan) of Vidor, TX; Milton Dale(Sam) Magee (Lisa) of Harlingen, TX, 13 great nieces and 10 great nephews; and one great-great niece  She is also survived by a young man she calls her “Second Son” John R. Lay(Adriana) of Taft, TX.; and many cousins and friends.

 

Her son and daughter-in-law would like to thank the staff at Bay Area Hospital 4th Floor Telemetry, for their remarkable compassion.
