Marshall Roy Lee Quinn passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 1, 1955, he lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, humor, and a deep love for family, friends, and the traditions that brought people together.

Marshall graduated from Odem High School in 1973 and went on to build a remarkable career troubleshooting the start-up of new compressors around the world. He continued that work until his retirement in 2017. He was a man who truly enjoyed solving problems, and those who knew him often said there was not a problem he could not solve—except, as he would no doubt admit with a smile, his iPhone. Gifted with his hands, Marshall could build, fix, or repair just about anything.

On November 27, 2024, Marshall married Renee Quinn in San Patricio, Texas. Their marriage was a cherished part of his life, and together they shared companionship, love, and the comfort of walking life’s road side by side.

Marshall embraced life with enthusiasm and made lasting memories for everyone around him. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, and he loved cheering on his Lakers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Astros, and watching Rory McIlroy play golf. Friday afternoons became their own treasured tradition, when his brother-in-law and sometimes other friends would come over to cook, drink beer, and “solve the world problems.” Those gatherings reflected Marshall perfectly: welcoming, sharp-witted, and happiest when surrounded by good company.

He was also well known for his annual St. Patrick’s Day party, held every year on the third Saturday of March. For over 15 years, friends and family gathered with food and drinks, and the day always included skeet shooting. The celebration became a tradition talked about all year long, and everyone knew exactly what he meant when he simply said, “My party.” Marshall also showed his love through food, taking pride in cooking his stew and chili, and in firing up the pit to cook sausage and chicken for those he cared about.

Marshall will also be remembered for the saying that was unmistakably his: “Eat shit and run Rabbits.” It was the kind of line that stayed with people, and till this day we wonder how to do this.

He is survived by his wife of two years, Renee Quinn. He also leaves behind his son, Rhea Wallace Quinn, and Rhea’s wife, Amanda; his grandchild, Mason Rasberry; his sister, Jo Fern Thomas (Winston); and his brother, Samuel Preston Quinn (Donna), Chris Hays and his 3 children, John Hays and his family, and Jennifer Pena (Ernest) and boys. Marshall also had numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Each of them carries forward memories of his humor, his generosity, his resourcefulness, and the unmistakable way he made every gathering feel like home.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Quinn, and his father, Rhea Royall Quinn.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the MD Anderson leukemia and stem cell transplant teams, Bay Area Hospital, Dr. Mamood and staff, and the Enhabit Hospice team for the care they gave Marshall. Deep appreciation is also shared with the family and friends who stood by his side and shared every step of this journey with constant support throughout the last two and a half years. Visitation will be held on September 21, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Winsteads' Funeral Home, 121 N Duval St., Mathis, Texas 78368. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Winsteads' Funeral Home. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Old San Patricio Cemetery, County Road 1441, San Patricio, Texas 78383.

Marshall Quinn leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, fellowship, and love. He will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
