Maricela P. Farias

Maricela P. Farias, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Portland, Texas. Born on October 14, 1961, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Maricela was a vibrant spirit who embraced life with an open heart.

Maricela was known for her love of family gatherings, often filling homes with laughter and warm moments over homemade meals that will forever be remembered, especially her renowned tamales and menudo. Her deep affection for cooking brought many together around the table, creating bonds that nourished not only the body but the soul.

Maricela loved to go thrifting at Goodwill, where she would find delightful treasures and share them with those she loved. Music was another of her joys; it filled her home and her heart, bringing countless memories made with family and friends. Summer barbecues were a particular highlight for Maricela, where she could showcase her culinary talents while enjoying the company of her nearest and dearest.

Maricela is preceded in death by her parents, Luciano and Juana Perez; two brothers, Guillermo Perez and Manuel Perez; and grandson, Anthony Alejandre. Her legacy will be carried on by her loving husband, Juan Farias; children, Melissa Alejandre, Esmeralda E. Menchaca, Jasylin Hatti Farias, Juan (Crystal) Farias Jr., and Jason Farias; 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jose Luis (Olga) Hernandez, Sylvia Perez, Lino Perez, and Isaias Perez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom are grateful for the love and light she brought into their lives.

Visitation for Maricela will begin at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will begin at 11 AM that same morning. Mass will be held that same day at 1 PM at St. Francis Xavier Mission Church in Tynan, Texas. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan, Texas.

The memory of Maricela P. Farias will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of those she touched. Her spirit of joy, openness, and unwavering love for her family will continue to be celebrated by all who had the privilege to know her.
