Maria Hernandez

Maria Rodriguez Hernandez at the age of 83, of Portland, died on 15 December 2025, in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan R. Hernandez, SFC US Army, retired, her daughters, Rita Ann and Vanessa Marie. She is survived by her four sons Augie (Ann) of Huntsville, AL; Juan Jr. (Gracie) of Portland, TX; Tony (Nicol) of Portland, TX and Carlos of San Antonio, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom was surrounded by her four sons as she peacefully and effortlessly took her final breath on this earth to begin her journey to the Kingdom of Heaven. There is no longer a battle with cancer, but there is now a celebration of everlasting new life with our Lord, Dad, Rita and Vanessa.

Mom was an Army wife, mother, grandmother/great grandmother and friend to many. We would like to thank all the friends and family that dropped by to visit Mom. The outpouring of love, stories, prayer intentions and hugs provided an unsurmountable amount of comfort to our family during this time.

The visitation and mass will be held on December 18, 2025, starting at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will be January 7, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Coastal Bend Veteran's Cemetery.
