Maria Consuelo Gomez

Maria Consuelo Gomez, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 11, 1947, she brought warmth, love, and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria leaves behind her devoted husband of 60 years, Jesus C. Gomez, who has been her steadfast companion through decades filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. Their life together was a testament to enduring love, marked by mutual support and shared joys.

She is survived by her loving daughter Michele G. Sanchez (David), and her grandchildren Brandy Sanchez (John), Dallas D. Sanchez, and Madison Sanchez, accompanied by her fiancé David Wills. Maria's warmth extended even further to her son Gabriel Gomez (Cynthia), along with her treasured grandchildren Chris Ortiz, Andrea Ortiz, Marcus Ortiz, and Stephanie Rivera (Caleb). Additionally, her grandchildren Chris Alvarado and Gabriel Gomez (Sabrina), as well as Ryan Gomez (Savanna), and Gage Gomez and Maelie R. Gomez hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her. Maria's legacy also glows brightly through her daughter Sonya G. Torres (Jesse), alongside her grandchildren Bryan G. Hartnett and Jesse L. Torres, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Sophia Ortiz, Timothy Aguilar, Ave M. Sanchez, Arietta A. Lopez, and Luca Gomez.

As we reflect on the beautiful life she lived, we remember Maria’s ability to bring people together. Her laughter was infectious, her spirit undaunted. She was the heart of her family, nurturing and encouraging each member to reach their fullest potential. Maria loved celebrating life’s milestones—from birthdays to weddings—with a flair that made everyone feel special and appreciated.

Though she is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Manuel and Baleriana Alaniz, her dear sisters Trinadad Cortez, Eva Chapa, and Senadia Solis, and her brother Senovio Vasquez, Maria's influence and spirit will forever be present in the lives she touched.

The visitation for Maria will be held on December 11, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Portland, TX, followed by a Rosary from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on December 12 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX, beginning at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at Gregory Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
