Maria DeJesus (Chita) Chavez, 92, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011. She was born June 10, 1919 in Houston, Texas to Nicolas & Guadalupe Rodriguez. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX, the Altar Society and the St. Vincent DePaul.
She is survived by her 5 children Mary Alice (David) Salinas of Portland, TX, Ramiro (Sylvia) Chavez of Gregory, TX, Minnie (Gilbert) Hinojosa of Portland, TX, Esther (Sandy) Vela of Houston, TX, and Sylvia (Eddie) Gonzalez of Humble, TX; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters Lupe Mershon of Refugio, TX, Luz (Gilbert) Leal of Houston, TX, Cuca (Joe) Gaona of Corpus Christi, TX, 3 brothers Margarito (Andrea) Rodriguez of Austin, TX, Nicolas Rodriguez, and Gilbert (Terersa) Rodriguez both of Corpus Christi, TX.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX. Burial to follow at the Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland, TX.
