Marcia Glynn Crawford Counter, 82 passed away on August She was born July 7, 1933 in Shreveport, LA to Blaine Marshall Crawford and Inez Wheeler Crawford.
Marcia grew up in Bossier City, La., attended St. Vincents Academy and was cheerleader and graduated of Bossier High School in 1951. She chose a path for learning as much as she could from various colleges including Centenary College, Louisiana Tech, Baylor University, LSU, UCLA, University of Arizona, University of Houston, Texas State University and A&I Kingsville. She began her career teaching deaf children in Houston, went on to teach English at Katy High School and English at Scottsdale high school in Scottsdale, AZ. Her long term career was with GPISD as their Special Education Director for the school district for 32 years. She retired in 2002 to relax and spend time with Charlie at their home at Ingleside on the Bay.
Marcia married Charles Wayne Counter in Bossier City, La on November 26, 195 8. They were happily married for 57 years. Marcia was a member of numerous educational boards and was a member and president of the Kiwanis of Portland as well as a member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women. She enjoyed writing, reading and getting her hands on anything that would enrich her mind. Marcia never missed a bargain sale and enjoyed shopping nearly every Saturday morning.. She was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was a very talented pianist.
Marcia is preceded in death by her father Blaine Marshall Crawford and mother Inez Wheeler Crawford. Her oldest son Mark Crawford Counter and youngest son Bronson Wayne Counter. She is survived by her loving husband Charles (Charlie) Counter of Ingleside on the Bay; daughter Blayne Ann Wunschel (Curtis Wunschel) of Coppell; daughter Paige Sunshine Raabe (Richard Raabe) of Portland; son Charles Todd Counter (fiancé, Julia Mechler)) of Pflugerville; Her brother Tim Crawford of Montesano, WA and sister Karen Mathews of Bossier City, LA. Grandsons Nickolas Wayne Wunschel, Charles (Charlie) Wunschel and Kai Cormier.
In lieu of flowers the family ask you to consider making a donation to the Kidney Foundation.
