LYDIA GUTIERREZ ALMARAZ

Our loving sister and mother, born on February 21, 1947, entered into eternal rest on February 8, 2020 surrounded by her family and friends.

Mom grew up in Mathis, Texas and after graduating from high school relocated to Abilene, Texas where she successfully started her seamstress business. After marrying her husband, Epimenio (Jimmy) Almaraz, she relocated to Corpus Christi to continue her business and eventually retired there. Her retirement years consisted mainly of tending to the love she had for gardening and quilt making.

Memories will forever be cherished by the special bond she had with her grandchildren, Christopher Angel Reyes, Marisol and Brooke Reyes.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bruno Gutierrez, mother, Julia Gutierrez, brothers - Benito (Sammy) and Lino Gutierrez, and sisters – Dora Amador, Adela Maria Gutierrez, Leonora Moreno and Mary Garcia.

She is survived by three children, Michael Anthony Reyes, Michelle Reyes and Misty; sister – Elsa Herrera and brother – Bruno Gutierrez, three grandchildren, Brooke Reyes, SSG Christopher Angel (Mary Rudolph) Reyes and Marisol; two great-grandchildren, Calla Jane and Kylar Luca Reyes and husband – Epimenio (Jimmy) Almaraz along with his extended family.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 217 W. San Patricio Ave., Mathis, Texas. A final farewell burial will follow at Descanso Eterno Cemetery No. 2 in Mathis, Texas.

The family will be receiving visitors at Dobie Funeral Home, 121 N. Duval St., Mathis, Texas on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm with a Rosary commencing at 7:00 pm.
