Leslie Lynn Lackey

(Leslie) Lynn Morris Lackey, 64, passed away November 3, 2012 at her home in Portland, Texas after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born April 23, 1948 in Sinton, Texas to Earl Morris and Ginie Carroll. Lynn was a bookkeeper and worked for 38 years at Tutt & Miller Insurance in Taft. She was a positive influence on many young women through her work as co-leader of Girl Scouts Troop #303. She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, James H. Lackey; a daughter Dundee (Lain) Lackey of Lewisville, TX, and a son Tyler (Shannon) Lackey of Portland, TX; sister Nancy (Kent) Fields of Fredricksburg, TX; brother Allen (Debbie) Morris of Portland, TX; cherished grandchildren Cierah Lee, Devin, and Caden lackey, and Fyona Wilkie; brother-in-law Larry (Karen) Lackey of Arlington, VA and sister-in-law Virginia Barr of Yoakum,TX; nephew Casey (Kristi) Morris, and his children Brooklyn and Axl of Portland, TX; nephew John Barr of Taft, TX; and numerous loving extended and adopted family members and friends whose support and love helped through her ordeal. She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, H.H. (Pete) and Maudie Lee Lackey.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Taft with Pastor Chuck Smith and Larry Mayo officiating. There will be no graveside services.
