June Hagemann, 86, of Portland, Texas was called to her heavenly home on July 12, 2026.
June's happiest moments were those spent with her family and the many Dachshund pups she spoiled over the years. For many years, kids and grandkids gathered for Sunday lunches after church, where there was always a delicious dessert. Spoiling the grandkids at Christmas brought her much joy-- one year, presents were numbered 1 to 10, and the grandkids had to open them in numerical order. June beamed with pride, attending athletic and musical events for all the grandkids and later even some of the great-grandkids-- baseball, football games, with halftime band performances, volleyball, basketball, piano recitals, cross country, track meets and softball.
June and Glenn were instrumental in the establishment of the Gregory-Portland School Band Boosters and the infamous sausage barn that funded band supplies and trips--many of which they participated as chaperones. They continued to attend Gregory-Portland High School football, softball, volleyball, and baseball games even after the kids were grown and were inducted as lifetime Gregory-Portland Athletic Booster Club Members.
June was a proud member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church for many years, serving on many committees, singing in the choir and sending notes and birthday cards to congregants. If you knew June well at all, you were at one time gifted one of her beautiful, counted cross-stitch framed pictures with a cursive written "book" of memories on the back. Countless hours were spent sitting in her living room turning string and fabric into beautiful wall hangings.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn and sister, Dorothy Anthony. She is survived by her son, Bruce Hagemann of Key West, Florida; daughter, Sherri (Arlen) Miller and son, Brian (Audrey) Hagemann, of Portland, Texas; sisters, Ruby Dietzel and Martha Sims; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Travis) Post, Matthew (Sebbie) Miller, Austin (Megan) Hagemann, and Amber (Nainoa) Bean; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Landon, Hudson, Leona, Harper, Kayce, Luke, and Roman.
Graveside services were held on July 18, 2026, at Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at First United Methodist Church, 4545 Wildcat Dr., Portland, Texas.
