Our Momo was given the greatest gift ever on Mother’s Day, to be called by our Lord. Juanita Barrera Hernandez, 80 years old, born August 9, 1936, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was a resident of Portland Texas. She was joined by her mother (Catarina), father (Ricardo), brothers Reyes, Alejandro, Ponciano Ricardo Jr. and Martin. She is survived by a loving husband of 59 years Joe L. Hernandez, son Jesus (Kid), daughters Linda Gomez (Jesse), Hesmeralda Hernandez (Edward Flores) and Hilda Zammit (Mark), two brothers Macario (Rosa), and Bernando Barrera, three sisters Palmira (Hilario) Hinojosa and Catarina (Arnold) Ramirez. She has nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a dedicated loving wife, mother, momo, sister and tia. She was a wonderful example of faith, family, loyalty and humbleness. She loved dancing, music, gardening, and playing bingo. Juanita was a charismatic and outgoing person who was loved by all who met her. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 9:00pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland. Interment to follow at the Palms Memorial Gardens.
