Juanita Acosta Cortez, 77, of Gregory, Texas passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on February 18th, 2018. She was born on June 24, 1940 to Domingo and Inez Acosta. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ruben H. Cortez Sr., brothers Juan and Crispin Acosta, Sister Beatriz Serda and great grandchildren Adrian and Camila Flores.
Juanita was a loving mother and grandmother to all her children. She enjoyed being with her family and had a special bond with each of her siblings. She took great joy in watching all her grandchildren in all their activities especially the sandlot baseball games in her backyard. She was also a dedicated St Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves fan and rarely missed a game. Her family is grateful for all of the loving memories and for the unconditional love she showered on everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her siblings, Jose, Pedro and Jesusa Acosta, Eluteria Ortiz, Maria Qulimaco and Norma Morin. Her children Hector(Debbie)Cortez, Ruben (Rosemary) Cortez Jr., Grace (Juan) Hernandez, Thelma (Ricky) Martinez, Mark and Lisa Cortez and Laura Perales. Her grandchildren, Michael Cortez, Anthony(Ashley) Cortez, Corina (Luis) Flores, Andrea (Kyle) Simmons, Ruben Cortez III, Jovanna Hernandez, Tracy Martinez, Ruby (Cody) Zipprian, Ricky Martinez, Arick (Jamie) Cortez, Jennifer and Jessica Hernandez, Gabriella, Gavin and Grayden Cortez. Great Grandchildren Alexander and Gabriel Clemons, Trent and Marley Cortez, Emma and Everett Zipprian, Vivienne Simmons, Landon, Lacey and Lillah Hernandez.
Visitation will be held at Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland on February 21st from 10am to 7pm with a Rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held on February 22nd at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory at 10am with Burial to follow at the Gregory Cemetery.
A special thanks to all her Home Health (Iris Garcia), Palliative and Hospice Care providers. Also, to all the employees of Fresenius Dialysis Center in Aransas Pass for the special care they provided to her. We are truly grateful.
