Juan Flores Sr., 78, of Kingsville, Texas, gained his wings peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Juan was born on May 10, 1948, in Alice, Texas, to Maria Refugia “Cuca” Hernandez Flores and Santiago Flores. He was a longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas, where he built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and kindness.

Juan worked for many years as a roofer before serving as a maintenance employee for Kingsville Independent School District until his retirement. Beyond his career, he was a devoted family man, proud Vietnam Veteran, loyal husband, and a true jack-of-all-trades. Whether he was making everyone laugh, lending a helping hand, or casting a fishing line, Juan found joy in bringing happiness to those around him. He was a gifted storyteller whose stories will be cherished for generations. One of his greatest passions was dancing and listening to music.

Juan had the biggest heart and an unwavering love for his family, a love reflected in his favorite saying: “I love the Heavens out of you.” He courageously battled cancer on and off until the very end, never losing his sense of humor and always finding a way to lift the spirits of everyone around him. His strength, resilience, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Flores and Maria Refugia “Cuca” Flores, and his grandparents, Juan and Antonia Hernandez.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Terrie F. Flores of Kingsville, Texas; his six children, Melissa Flores-Mayorga (Rene), Mari Gutierrez (Michael), Andrea Flores, Erica Flores, Juan Fernando Flores, and Juan Flores Jr. (Lili); his nine grandchildren, Abel Rene Mayorga Jr. (Taylor), Eric Daniel Mayorga (Makayla), Marcus Ryan Mayorga, Michael Joe Gutierrez Jr., Jonathan Lee Gutierrez, Joe Anthony Gonzalez, Evelyn Jolene Forsythe, Emma Jane Forsythe, and Shia Layne Flores; his two great-granddaughters, Alaina Renee Mayorga and Ava Renee Mayorga; his brother, Casey Flores (Norma) of Corpus Christi, Texas; along with numerous extended family members, friends, and all whose lives were blessed by his kindness and generous spirit.

Juan’s legacy of laughter, love, strength, and compassion will live on through the many lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with those who went before him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

The Rosary for Juan will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Winsteads’ Funeral Home in Kingsville, with the Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
