Josephine Ochoa Canales

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Josephine Ochoa Canales. After 94 years, Josephine was called to her heavenly home after a brief illness.

Josephine is lovingly survived by her children: Albert (Delma) Canales, Hector Canales, Richard Canales, Felix Canales, Lisa (Mark) Salinas, JoAnna Canales. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Sister: Mary (Al) Arguillo.

She was preceded in death by: The love of her life of 72 years, her husband Pedro Canales. Elizabeth Canales (daughter), Two great grandchildren Elijah Jude Gutierrez and Nathan Salinas Jr. Parents: Ramon and Albina Ochoa Siblings: Ramon (Maria) Ochoa, Salvador (Tomasa) Ochoa, Esther (Felipe) Ramirez, Carlos (Elena) Ochoa, Efrain (Juanita) Ochoa, Jesus (Simona) Ochoa, Concepcion (David) Canales.

A visitation will take place on January 12, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at Winsteads' Funeral Home, Portland, Texas, with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m.

Funeral mass will be on January 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, Texas.

Interment will be January 13, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas
