Jose Guadalupe Luna Jr., a dedicated diesel mechanic and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, in Orange Grove, Texas. Born on May 17, 1942, in Robstown, Texas, Jose lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and a passion for the outdoors.
Jose spent 21 years working for GTE as a diesel mechanic, where his skill and commitment earned him respect and admiration. Beyond his professional life, he embraced the simple pleasures that brought him joy: he loved to hunt, fish, and tend to his garden, activities that connected him deeply to nature and provided cherished moments for reflection and relaxation.
Jose is reunited with his parents, Guadalupe H. Luna Sr. and Luisa Hernandez Luna, as well as his brother, Juan H. Luna. He leaves his memories to his beloved wife, Gracie V. R. Luna; children, Arnulfo Luna Sr., Juan Alberto Luna Sr., Erisola (Gorge Sr.) Perez, Maria Luisa Rivera, Lupita Luna (Samuel), and Rubelda Luna; grandchildren, Arnulfo Luna Jr., Anthony Ryan Luna, Brian Luna, Juan Alberto Luna Jr., Michael Luna, George Perez Jr., Ashley Marie Perez, Benigno Rivera III, Samantha Jeann Rivera, Jose Luis Mendoza Jr., and Lilliana Mickayla Rosas; sister, Maria Rosario James; niece, Leslie D. James; and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home, where a Holy Rosary will be recited that same evening at 7 PM. Visitation will resume at 9 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Winsteads' Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will begin at 11 AM that same morning at Descanso Eterno Cemetery II.
Throughout his life, Jose Guadalupe Luna Jr. exemplified dedication, whether through his long career, his commitment to family, or his love of the outdoors. He leaves behind a legacy rich with memories and a family bound by love and respect. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
