Joe G. Medina

Joe Gallagher Medina, 85, passed away on February 3, 2015, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born on January 11, 1930 to Uvaldo Joe & Hortencia Medina in Corpus Christi. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Faye; a son Mark (Rachel) Medina; two daughters Cynthia (Gerald) Rodriguez and Sheri Gonzalez; a step-daughter Lisa (Aaron) Hall and a step-son Bryan Huddler. He is also survived by 1 nephew; 13 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents Uvaldo Joe and Hortencia Medina; a son Joseph Julius Medina; a sister Elida Wilhite. Joe began his beloved musical career at an early age of 13 where he was a member of a Big Band, playing clarinet & saxophone with Red Stewart. He also played with the Corpus Christi Symphony and the Galvan Orchestra. Joe received his Bachelors and Masters in Music Education from Texas A&I University. He was also in the Air Force and a conductor of the Air Force Band for two years. He was a beloved teacher, band director and administrator for many schools that include Gregory-Portland, Carroll, Robstown, Rockport-Fulton, Bishop, Premont and Moody High Schools and Wynn Seale and Haas Jr. Highs.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Limbaugh Funeral Home with interment to follow at Gregory Cemetery.
