Janie Inez Cormack

Janie Inez (Gray) Cormack was born in Brady, Texas on November 9, 1924 to Harvey and Mary Jane Gray. 

She grew up in the Gregory-Portland area with three brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Gregory-Portland High School in 1943.Married Rene Greenwell in 1954. Together they raised three daughters.

She was actively involved in her church and local community. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, dancing, baking and spending time with family.

She was highly recognized as a tutoring volunteer for non-English speaking students through the HOSTS Program for eight years. She was also a long-time member of the Toast Mistress Club. She worked for the Naval Air Station and retired from the Army Depot in 1981. After retirement, she met Leeman Cormack, they were married. Leeman had three children, Donnie, Sharon and Dewayne.
 She was quick-witted, hard-working, loving and giving, a strong and independent woman, loved by many family and friends alike!
 Janie passed away September 8, 2015, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Amos Gray, and Wallace Gray, 

sisters Iris Virginia Sykes, and Ore Mae Brock, as well as, two husbands, Rene Greenwell and Leeman J. Cormack and his son, Donnie Cormack.

She is survived by her brother (sister-in-law), Ralph Gray (Mary), of San Antonio; and sister, Georgie Marsh, of Corpus Christi; three daughters (2 sons-in-law), Karen Supple, of Corpus Christi, Mary Lynn Hendrickson (Ric), of Austin, and Jane Floyd (Frank), of Corpus Christi;

five grandchildren, Joel Supple of Dallas, Ross & Rachel Hendrickson of Austin, Nathan & Jena Floyd of Corpus Christi; one great-grandson, Mason Supple of Dallas; a multitude of cousins, nieces & nephews!

She was never one to say, “Goodbye!”, instead, she said, “Goodbye, for now” with a twinkle in her eye.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Limbaugh Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Limbaugh Funeral Home with interment to follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens in Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janie's memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at alzfdn.org or by calling 1-866-232-8484.
