Janice Liberty Robbins

Janice Liberty Robbins passed away peacefully in her home on Friday November 23, 2012. She was surrounded by family on Thanksgiving day. Her two daughters were with her when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Janice "Grandma" Robbins was 94 years old. She was born in Springview, NE on March 4, 1918 to Oscar and Hazel Marburger. She has one older sister, Jean Mentis of Hampton, IA and one younger brother, Oscar (Mary) Smith of Olathe, NE. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, Durward Robbins, her son, Von Robbins, her great-grandson, Justin and her great-granddaughter, Kelsey. She is survived by her two daughters, Vickie Bolus of Corpus Christi, TX and Billie Jo Trees of Portland, TX, her son, Wesley (Marie) Nunley of Pea Ridge, AR, her niece, Scott (Adolph) Poenisch of Tilden, TX, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Janice was a devoted wife and loving mother. She followed her husband from city to city, state to state, and country to country while he worked in the oilfield. She truly enjoyed their stay in Malaysia. Upon returning to the states, they found their permanent home in Portland, TX. Over the years in Portland, she and grandpa "adopted" families that moved here for whatever reason. This extended family became quite large - from the Smiths to the Cains. Everyone that came to Thanksgiving was family and the door was always open for them to come "home".

Janice was devout Christian woman. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on December 7, 1941. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ingleside, TX. Due to medical reasons over the past few years, she could not attend church, but she was able to listen to the message brought by Bro. Bob through CD's delivered to her by her very dear friend, Pam Baker.

Grandma will be truly missed but her unconditional love and the many stories she loved to tell will live on from generation to generation.
