Guillermo Cuellar

Guillermo Turner Cuellar, 91, of Bishop, Texas went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2024. Guillermo was born on July 18, 1932 in La Feria, Texas to David R. and Eloisa T. Cuellar. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1953, reenlisted with the Air Force Reserves during the Korean War era and served another 5 years. After working at JCPenney department store as the shoe department manager for 15 years, the family owned & operated the Walk Easy shoe store for 6 years. He graduated from Texas A&I University with a degree in Education and went on to be a school teacher in Robstown for 12 years. He later substituted for 6 years in Corpus Christi.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all.

Guillermo was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Juanita "Janie" Cuellar; his second wife, Olga Cuellar; his sons Waldo Lee Cuellar and David Eric Cuellar (at birth); and his brother, Leonel Cuellar.

Guillermo leaves behind his sons, William J. (Glenda) of San Antonio, and Wesley R. (Doris) Cuellar of Kingsville; stepdaughter, Mary H. Chapa of Houston; stepson Henry (Arlene) Chapa of Baytown; stepson Joe Chapa of Houston; stepson Robert (Dione) Chapa of Conroe, Texas; his sister, Guadalupe C. Alvarado of Houston; and sister Odilia C. Saenz of Kingsville. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:30am on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary and mass will be celebrated at 11am on February 2, 2024 at St. Martin Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
