Guadalupe B. Rodriguez
Guadalupe Rodriguez passed away on the morning of May 14, 2012. Guadalupe was born on August 12, 1930 to Guadalupe and Adela Barrera. She grew up in Raymondville, Texas. At the Harlingen hospital, where she was admitted while being ill with Tuberculosis, she met Catarino Rodriguez who was also a patient at the hospital. Catarino would later become her husband of 14 years until his untimely death. Catarino and Guadalupe were blessed with three children: Joe Rodriguez (Sandra), Sylvia Tanner, Cynthia Gonzales (Danny).
Guadalupe spent her life as a nurse at the Harlingen Medical Hospital and also as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was highly devoted to her faith as a Catholic even while struggling with Dementia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Alzheimer's. Her last days were spent with family and loved ones.
Guadalupe is predeceased by her Father, Guadalupe Barrera; Husband, Catarino Rodriguez; mother, Adela Mata; brother Oscar Barrera.
She is survived by her sisters, Jesusa Silva; Cenorina Noyola (Isidro); Guadalupe Casarez (Victor); Santos Briseno (Geronimo); her 3 children and her adopted son, Joe Rodriguez, Sylvia Tanner, Cynthia Gonzales, and Roger Alvaraz; her Children-in-law, Sandra Rodriguez, and Danny Gonzales; Grand-children, Melissa Porter, CJ Tanner, Katie Tanner, Lori Winnie, Victoria Vera, Jacob Gonzales, Brittany Tanner, Danielle Gonzales, and Bella Rodriguez; and Great Grand-Child, Hunter Porter. A special thank you to Guadalupe's provider Abby H. Martinez. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, TX. Interment to follow at the Gregory Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Rodriguez, Danny Gonzales, CJ Tanner, Jacob Gonzales, Lori Winnie, Brittany Tanner, and Katie Tanner.
