Guadalupe Orta Mendoza

It is with a broken heart we announce the passing of our beloved Matriarch.

Guadalupe (Lupita) O. Mendoza, 67, of Kingsville, Texas passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was a pillar of strength and the backbone of her family. At 4'11, she was a tiny giant. She dedicated her life to the legal field beginning as a legal secretary to the trailblazer Irma Lerma Rangel. Lupita obtained her bachelor's degree from Texas A&M Kingsville (formerly A&I) and her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary's Law School in 1995. She returned home to Kingsville where she opened her law office and maintained a thriving practice until her passing.

She is survived by her five children: Daniel (Rhonda) Mendoza of Aurora, Colorado; Mark A. Mendoza of Kingsville, Texas;  Diana Mendoza of Kingsville, Texas; Sophia Campos of Kingsville, Texas; and Suzel A. Mendoza of Bishop, Texas. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was overjoyed about the coming of three more. Although she will never get to meet them in this life, we are certain they will inherit her loving and fierce fighting spirit.

Lupita was preceded in death by her parents Juanita Rivera, and Isabel Mendoza. She leaves behind multiple siblings: Juan (Ofelia) Mendoza of Waxahachie, Texas; Yolanda Mendoza-Ortega of Kingsville, Texas; MaryAnn Alarcón of Houston, Texas; Victoria (Jaime) Villarreal of Kingsville, Texas; Melissa (Tim) Bennett of Beeville, Texas; and Melinda (Rick) Chavez of Liberty Hill, Texas. along with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on July 15, 2023 followed by a reception. We humbly extend an invitation to join us in celebrating all that she was in this life so that we may carry all those memories with us always
