Gregoria G. Herrera

Portland-Gregoria G. Herrera., of Portland, TX passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the age of 84.

Gregoria was born on December 5, 1940, in Taft, TX to Sabino and Dolores Gonzales.

She was the first of eight children; Guadalupe G. Herrera of Portland TX., Teresa G. Villa (decd) of Portland TX., Margarita (Maggie) Gonzales (decd) of Portland TX., Juan Gonzales (decd) of Portland TX., Gilbert Gonzales of Portland TX., Sylvia G. Taylor of Portland TX., Odilia G. Berry of Portland TX.

In 1958, Gregoria married the love of her life, Ruperto V. Herrera Jr., on June 12th. They went on to create a beautiful life together. One filled with laughter, love, adventure and most importantly, children.

She is survived by her 6 children, Henry R. Herrera of McAllen TX, Diane H. Hernandez of Portland TX, Grace H. Flores of Portland, TX, Mable H. Flores of Beaumont TX, Ruperto (Junior) V. Herrera III of Portland TX and Rene A. Herrera of Corpus Christi TX., twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband (Ruperto V. Herrera Jr), her daughter (Rachel Herrera), 3 of her siblings and her parents.

Our mom/grandma will be remembered fondly as a kind, generous, loving, gentle and hard-working woman. One who devoted her life to her family and never failed to put her family first. She found the most joy being in the presence of her loved ones; playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She recognized her family as her greatest achievement and blessing.

Per our mom’s/grandma’s wishes, a private funeral was held for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Herrera Family would also like to send our condolences to those who knew our mom/grandma. We know that those of you are mourning the loss with us. We will keep each of you in our thoughts and prayers. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to Marisol, Deziree and Marie, her providers who helped us with everything we needed for our mom/grandma. Thank you, God, for sending us her guardian angels. You ladies will never be forgotten.
