Gloria S. Rios

Gloria Salazar Rios, 72, of Kingsville, TX passed away on November 21, 2023. She was born on June 25, 1951 in Kingsville, TX, to Ambrosio Salazar and Aurelia Jimenez.

Our mother worked as a Custodian her entire life. Making everyone's life extremely clean and easy to live in. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Tejano music was in her soul and dancing was her conduit to pure joy. The sound of her laughter and gritos will live in our hearts forever.  She was devoted to giving you her last dollar if she saw you needed it, even if it left her broke. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by Ambrosio Salazar(father), Aurelia Jimenez(mother), Reynaldo Jimenez (step father), Felipe Salazar(brother) & Prudencio (Eddie) Salazar(brother).

She is survived by her children, daughter Pamela (Rene) Cortez and son Pedro (Diane) Rios III. Her grandbabies, as she called them, Miranda (Damian) Delapaz, Joel R. Cortez, Gabrielle Cortez, and Pedro Rios IV. Great grandchildren Joel (JJ) Cortez, Adalia Grace Delapaz, & Noah Cortez. Siblings Shiela Anguiano, Ambrosio (Eva) Salazar, Tony (Elodia) Salazar, Rosie Estrada, Gracie (George) Presas, & Mary Lou (Jose) Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held from 5p to 7pm on Thursday 11/30/2023 at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.  This will be followed by a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. in the evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Friday on the first day of her favorite month of December 1st 2023 at St. Martins Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in Kingsville at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
