Gloria S. Lewis

The book of life for Gloria S. Lewis was opened on March 4,1929 in Port Barre, LA. She was born to her parents, Alex Savoy and Pearl Bellard Savoy.

She married Sylvester Lewis Sr. on July 31, 1949 in Port Barre, LA. To this union 4 sons and 2 daughters were born.

Upon moving to Kingsville, Texas she united with the King Star Baptist Church and remained a faithful member. She loved her church and worked in many different capacities including Girl's Auxiliary, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School teacher. Also, she was president of the choir for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sylvester Lewis Sr.; two sons, Larry James (Charlotte), and Carl David; one daughter, Judy Faye; six brothers and one sister.

Big Mama, as she was called by many, leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Sylvester Lewis Jr. of Long Beach, CA., Paul Richard (Betty) Lewis of Kingsville. Tx., and Marilyn L. Ruff also of Kingsville, Tx. sisters, Jacqueline (Donald) Robinson of Washington, LA. and Yvonne Trent of Beaumont, Tx.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
