Obituary

Eva Mae was the oldest child born to Jimmy Green and Eva Mae Bell in Kingsville, Texas. Eva Mae matriculated through the Kingsville Independent School District.

She attended the segregated Frederick Douglas Elementary School. While attending Douglass Elementary she participated in dance class under the leadership of Mrs. Knoblock learning tap and ballet. She was an accomplished pianist. Her middle school years were spent at Memorial Middle School and then graduated from H. M. King High School.

Eva Mae united with King Star Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful and active until her health failed. She was an active member in the community where she participated in all events in the community. She was an integral part of the Douglas Alumni Committee.

Eva Mae married Clifford N. French and to this union two children were born, Clifford N. French. Jr. and Marva Ann French. She later united in holy matrimony with Erich L. Smith.

Eva Mae was gainfully employed at Celanese Chemical Plant for twenty-five years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eva Bell and Jimmy Green, and brother, George Paige. Jr.

Eva Mae leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Erich L. Smith of Kingsville, IX, son, Clifford N. French Jr. of Corpus Christi. TX, two daughters, Marva (Marcus) Rhone of Kingsville, TX and Cherie Richardson of Oklahoma City, OK, two grandchildren, Isiah Maviscal and Donny Thomas, niece, Tia Lanae King Paige, nephew Tavis King, great niece, Tiana King, godchildren, Brandon and Brian Greenwood.
