Elvira G. Saenz

Elvira Saenz, age 91, received her golden wings and went to be with our Lord on October 12, 2011 with her daughters and other family members by her bedside. She was born in La Fruta, San Patricio County on January 4, 1920. Our Mother always had a smile and had a great sense of humor. She was full of life and enjoyed music, dancing, and the color red. She loved flowers and had a green thumb with plants. Elvira was delighted with small children and animals especially her dog Beauty.
She is preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe R. Saenz; father Santos Gonzales; mother Herminia; a sister Hilaria Franco, brothers Santiago and Erasmo; her children Jose, Ernestina, Juanita, Crucita and Susana. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, daughters Eloise Pike (Walter), Portland, TX, Lupita Torres (Lico), Taft, TX, Minnie Vasquez (Ray), Portland, TX, Mary Saenz, San Antonio, TX; sons Alvaro Buddy Saenz (Catherine), Houston, TX, Ramiro Saenz (Patricia), San Antonio, TX, Ernest Saenz (Ann),Memphis, TN, Daniel Saenz (Jenny), Portland, TX; and a brother John Gonzales (Sharyn), Salem, Oregon; 30 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was a long time member of Christ the King Church before moving to Portland. We would like to extend our thanks to all of the staff, nurses, and CNAs at Trisun Coastal Palms and Light House Hospice for their care and kindness of our beloved Mother.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, TX. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, TX.
