Elizabeth Dru Howell

October 27, 1937 — March 8, 2014

Elizabeth Dru Howell

Elizabeth Dru Howell met Jesus when she was six years old, and nurtured a close and loving lifelong relationship with her Savior. On March 8, 2014 she entered the gates of heaven and now rests in peace in the eternal loving arms of her Lord.

Liz was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on October 27, 1937, to Howard and Wynonah Snider. She was a graduate of Duncan High School and attended nursing school at Oklahoma State University. At a Marine Ball she met the love of her life, Jerry Allen Howell. They were married February 7, 1958, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008.

Liz pursued her passion for creating art throughout life, and was a versatile and accomplished musician playing piano, autoharp, hammered dulcimer, and mountain dulcimer. She and Jerry were members of the musical group South Texas Folk Strings.

She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and expanded her experiences to include European countries while living in Libya and Iran with her husband and children. Upon retirement she, Jerry, and their canine kids became committed RV travelers.

Liz was preceded in death by her grandmother (Mama), mother, granddaughter (Katie Brockwell), husband, father, and sister Kathryn Smith. She is survived by her daughters and sons in-law Cynthia and Ronnie Brockwell of Converse, Texas; Lisa Howell of San Antonio, Texas; and Lahonna and Bruce Duncan of Magnolia, Texas. She has five grandchildren: April LaFee, Paul Brockwell, April Bradford, Lindsay Traber, Kyle Duncan; and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany, Zachary, Charlotte, Alexandra, Skyler, Brantley, and Ally.

Mom/Gramz, you are dearly loved and will always be with us in heart and spirit.
