Douglas James Bremar
April 6th, 1960 – September 3, 2025
Douglas “Doug” Bremar was born to Edwin and Teresa (Smith) Bremar in Lancaster, California. He was the 6th of 9 children.
Doug served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He married Linda Schiele on November 30th, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a devout Catholic and member of the choir at Our lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, TX, where he was also a Fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Beverly Cox, and his brother, Andrew Bremar.
Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Linda, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers; Barbara Vandendries, Edward Bremar, Mathew Bremar, Kenneth Bremar, James Bremar, and Janet Pugh. He was a caring Father to 4 children, a proud Papa to 3 grandchildren (with another grandchild born soon after the time of his passing); Jessica (Bremar) Weinheimer and husband Brandon and their 3 children, Lorelei, Cullen, and Farrah of Fredericksburg, TX; Zack Bremar and wife Ana and their newborn son Lincoln of Portland, TX; Angela Bremar of Boston, MA; and Ian Bremar of Chicago, IL.
Doug will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, and the warmth and kindness he shared with all who knew him.
Visitation for Doug Bremar will be held on Wednesday, September 17 from 5pm-7pm at Our lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, TX with a Rosary Service to follow at 7pm. A Mass of Resurection will be celebrated on September 18th at 10am at Our lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with a graveside service to follow at 1pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX.
Pallbearers are: Son-in-Law Brandon Weinheimer, Family Friend John Caldwell, and members of the Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or the United Service Organization (www.uso.org). Expressions of sympathy may also be shared at www.winsteadsfuneralhome.com.
